Bonnie Braid brand at the 6mm (.24" or 1/4th inch) thickness, is a braided polypropylene cord, 50 yards (45.72 meters) long.   This cord is most suitable for small to large macramé applications such as rugs, mats, plant hangers, purses, and wall hangings.  Similar to a Super Bulky (size 6-7) weight yarn, this cord can be used for home décor, knitting and crochet projects; use U.S. 11 or 8mm needles (for knitting,) or Q or 15.75mm - 16mm hook for crochet projects.

This cording is fusible (melt ends together with a lighter or melting tool). Fuse ends together to join ends or finish without making knots. This thickness can also be spliced together to form hidden knots (use a cord splicing tool such as the Magic Splicer).

Tensile weight limit is 154 lbs. Test report available upon request.

6mm Bonnie Braid is also available in the 100 yards (91.44 meters) length.

Color chart is available to download and review here.

100% polypropylene.
Made in the USA. Note: Colors Flamingo and Chartreuse were made in China.

Perfect for beginner or experimental macrame

Posted by Meredith on Sep 14th 2021

The heat-fusible nature of this rope makes it perfect for beginners, or for anyone making their own patterns and not sure what length of rope to cut. No more running out of yarn too soon, or having unseemly knots where you had to add more yarn. Just melt the two ends together, and you have a seamless transition.

I used this cord to weave new seats for my lawn chairs. It was easy to work with. The chairs look great and the seats are strong.

This braid is highly suitable as a fly tying material when the weave is brushed out. Large profile streamers with virtually no weight can be tied for predatory fish.

I use the braid for fly tying. I cut it in to 7" lengths, unwind the strands, and then brush it out until it becomes a long fine hair. I use it to tie saltwater flies and freshwater streamers. Excellent material for this!!!
